Hardware Upgrade - June 2007
We have beeen upgrading the hardware and software of the Halogen Datawarehouse IQ server to improve performance and fault log handling, installing additional report servers and replacing faulty hardware.
Crystal Reports Server - June 2007
A new server has been installed at Coleshill to support the automation of reports for the user base. This server will be running the proprietary software Crystal Reports Server and will allow the management, design and automation of more graphical reports that will be automatically distributed.
Telephone Fault Clearances - June 2007
Over time there have been instances where Halogen has received telephone fault logs but never the subsequent clearance, even in the event of the faults actually having been cleared. As a consequence a large number of uncleared telephone faults exist in Halogen, where they should in fact have been cleared a long time ago. A procedure has been implemented for clearing these faults and over time an exercise will be carried out to run this procedure in Halogen.
Roadside Fault Display - June 2007
The Roadside Fault Display web site (http://www.rccstatus.org.uk) has been upgraded. The latest version of RFD will include:
- Home page will include "at a glance" RCC Logging System status overview
- Filtering of information by Road Section (Marker Post or Junction)
- Each page can be sorted by any of the columns displayed
- Status data for signals, message sign settings, telephone devices are available
- Users can select either RMC County Area or Control Office
- PDA version will paginate the results allowing for "bite sized" data retrieval
This new version of RFD is hoped to improve the filtering of Real-time faults for engineers at the roadside.
TIH Receiver Toolkit - May 2007
The Halogen project has developed a CORBA Notification Service delivering real-time HATMS data to those users that need it. This service conforms to standards and preferred interface protocols for TIH ‘sophisticated’ information exchange. CORBA is the preferred TIH implementation technology as it is a well established, open standard, that is language and vendor neutral, and platform transparent.
The Halogen team has produced a Notification Service TIH Receiver Toolkit which will act to provide a tutorial and a fully operational open source example of java coding which is known to work and be stable. The TIH Receiver Toolkit is available from the downloads sections for Halogen users that want to integrate Halogen Real-time HATMS information with their bespoke systems. The information topics currently available are:
- Equipment Fault
- Telephone Fault
- Message Sign Setting
- Device Signal Setting
- Link Monitor
- Device Status Entry
- Device Setting Request
More information topics will be available in due course.
Log Reclassification - Mar 2007
On the weekend of 17/18 February 2007, the Halogen Data Warehouse was upgraded from Sybase IQ 12.5 to IQ 12.6, as part of the Highways Agency's strategy of maintaining current system software versions. This version will resolve a number of issues which will provide improvements in client performance and security.
As part of this upgrade, the Log Reclassification enhancement was implemented. This enhancement improves the facilities on Halogen for identifying erroneous or misleading log data and ensuring such data is excluded from standard reports. This will improve the accuracy of all Halogen reports and services.
HCCAi v 6.3 has been released. The key features of this release are:
- A number of existing HCCA reports have now been migrated over to the HCCAi as follows: SAC Sign Setting History Standard Report : Settings Per Day Standard Report : All Options-Suppressed Timestamps System Report : Exceptions report
- A new Fault Monitor Report is now available. The Fault Monitor provides a fault profile for an RCC, over a given time period. At specified intervals, the number of uncleared faults are counted and these results are plotted on a graph. The aim of the report is to assist HA and RCC managers to get an indicator of RCC performance.
- Two new filters have been introduced - County Boundary and Contract Name. These two filters will assist HCCAi users (in particular RMCs) to better identify those faults which have occurred on equipment which is in their own specific areas of responsibility.
Login to be able to download the new version of HCCAi.
