NTP - Network Time Protocol
Halogen provides a single accurate time source to the RCC network. This uses GPS time as the primary time source with multiple levels of redundancy to ensure that the highest available accuracy time source is selected and that time across the network remains consistent even if the primary time server fails.
The Network Time Server is integrated into Halogen's remote monitoring system so that Halogen support staff are alerted if the server loses all GPS signals or fails.
Network Time Protocol (NTP) is used to distribute time to RCCs and COBS. COBS using this time signal will operate in UTC +0 (GMT) and convert it to local time for operational and display purposes.

Helpdesk.
