HATMS Development / Test Support

A Halogen Test System is available for use by Logging System suppliers as part of their system integration and acceptance test environment. The Test Halogen is located at Mott MacDonald's test laboratory in Glasgow and can be accessed via secure VPN over the Internet.

DATEL, SERCo, IESS and SSL are all connected to the current test system. Using this facility Mott MacDonald is able to offer a service to COBS and sub-system developers to exercise their equipment’s logging interface

The importance of testing new logs and new sub systems to the Halogen test system before becoming operational has never been more important. Many other systems are now displaying and relying on the integrity and quality of operational log data in real time. Logging errors or inconsistencies can now effect the operation of many third party systems from the moment they start to occur.

The Halogen test system allows both SMC’s and Mott MacDonald to discover potential logging issues and perform analysis of the performance of new logging interfaces.

Once a SMC has set up their VPN to our Glasgow LAB, all Mott MacDonald require is reasonable notice of developers intention to do their testing, for us to configure our test facility. The link is unlikely, unless specifically requested, to be left open for extended periods. Copies of the received logs can then be forwarded to the originating organisation for evaluation.

Using this facility the COBS and sub-system suppliers can ensure all changes to the COBS logging software are tested prior to site installation and log formats are validated to the latest implementation of MCH 1780.

If you wish to use this service and for details on connecting a VPN to the system, please contact the Helpdesk.
