Uses Of Halogen Data

The usage that organisations make of Halogen Data is varied and depends on the function of the organisation or department; the following is a short list of example uses of Halogen Highways Agency Traffic Management System (HATMS) data.

RCC Performance Measurement

The Agency has implemented a network of seven regional control centres across England and work in close cooperation with the police. RCCs are primarily responsible for the management and operations of the Traffic Officer Service and are focused on responding to traffic incidents.

RCC Network Operations Managers and Business Managers in the Highways Agency Regional Control Centres utilise Halogen data to measure and improve operator Emergency Roadside Telephone response times.

Halogen Standard reports are generated monthly and are available for download from the user area of this website.

National roads Telecommunications Services (NRTS)

The NRTS project provides a single national approach to the future of the communications network for the Highways Agency. NRTS provides a service to carry data from roadside devices to RCC’s and NTCC. NRTS utilises CORBA Notification from Halogen Real-time information services to provide detection of equipment failures which may affect the ability of the NRTS project to successfully deliver the Agency’s communication service.

More detail on Halogen Real-time information services are available in the following section of the website Real-Time Delivery.

Regional Maintenance Contractors

Maintenance Contractors (TechMAC’s and EMAC’s) are encouraged to use Halogen Data to provide detection of Roadside equipment failures within their area of operation.

Maintenance contractors access Halogen via a variety of mechanisms;
