Logging Data
Highways Agency technical document MCH 1780 defines for Highways Agency Traffic Management System (HATMS) equipments
the data that is to be logged to Halogen and under what conditions. MCH 1780 can be downloaded from www.tssplansregistry.org.
Halogen accepts MCH 1780 defined logs according to configurable rules (known as log templates) and provides secure storage of received logs in its master database. As it acknowledges that it has received a log, the sender can be confident that the logs have been stored securely and in such a way that no single point of failure will lead to their loss.
All logs sent to Halogen must contain standard 'header' information, must be encoded in a specified way, and must be sent according to a simple application-level protocol. These simple rules define a common interface for all HATMS systems that log to Halogen.
Typical classes of logs are:
- Faults (all types of equipment)
- Settings on matrix signs
- Settings on variable message signs
- Telephone call data
- Device configuration data
